CEDIA was officially created in the presence of the Vice President of the Republic of Ecuador and the National Secretary of Science and Technology. The formation of the consortium the agreement was signed and witnessed by representatives of 9 higher education institutions and by the legal representatives of SENACYT (National Secretariat of Science and Technology), CONATEL (National Council of Telecommunications), and the Constitutional Vice Presidency of the Republic of Ecuador. The statute of CEDIA was approved by the Subsecretary of Education of Ecuador and officially registered on January 6, 2003.
